Psychosocial Support Program – Mwenezi District

Psychosocial Support Program – Mwenezi District

This program strengthens the psychosocial well-being, educational participation, and economic resilience of 30 vulnerable children and adolescents and 20 vulnerable women in Mwenezi District, Masvingo Province.

Why This Matters

Communities in Mwenezi face high levels of poverty, psychosocial distress, school dropouts, gender inequality, and limited livelihood opportunities. Children experience emotional trauma, and women — especially single mothers and caregivers — lack access to sustainable income, leading to economic dependency and increased hardship.

Program Components

  • •Psychosocial Support — individual and group counselling, peer support groups, trauma-informed interventions, and referrals
  • •Educational Support — school fees for 30 learners across 3 schools, stationery, and career guidance
  • •Life Skills Training — self-awareness, communication, conflict resolution, reproductive health, and goal-setting
  • •Women's Economic Empowerment — vocational training in baking, poultry, detergent making, and hairdressing; financial literacy; savings groups; start-up kits
