This project fully completes and equips an unfinished two-classroom block at Murawi Primary School — providing roofing, plastering, flooring, painting, furniture for 200 learners, and a 10kW solar power system within a six-month timeline.
Why This Is Urgent
Murawi Primary School currently has only one completed classroom block with two classrooms, which is insufficient for all enrolled learners. Due to the shortage of space, most classes are conducted outdoors — exposing children and teachers to extreme heat, rain, and other harsh weather conditions. The unfinished block stands roofless and unusable. Completing it will immediately end outdoor learning and improve educational outcomes for hundreds of learners.
Scope of Work
- •Roofing — complete IBR roofing including trusses, sheets, and labour
- •Plastering — internal and external walls
- •Flooring — porcelain tiles (40cm × 40cm) throughout
- •Painting — weatherguard exterior, washable satin interior
- •Doors and windows — steel door sets and steel-framed windows
- •Furniture — 200 learner desks and chairs, 4 teacher desks and chairs
- •10kW Solar System — 24 × 550W panels with lithium batteries; powers all buildings on the school campus
Budget Breakdown
- •Roofing (trusses, sheets, labour): $7,000
- •Plastering (cement): $720
- •Flooring (tiles, cement, grout, bonding): $833
- •Paint and accessories: $1,360
- •Steel doors (×2) and windows (×2): $476
- •Learner furniture (200 sets) and teacher desks (4): $8,600
- •Bricks (5,000) and electrical wiring: $2,667
- •10kW Solar System: $3,200
Total: USD $25,000
Once complete, at least 200 learners annually will benefit from safe, well-lit, solar-powered classrooms — ending outdoor learning at Murawi Primary School.
