This project provides Matibi Nook with a reliable and sustainable underground water source through the drilling of a new borehole and installation of a 2HP solar-powered pumping system — ensuring clean water for training, hygiene, food preparation, and the organic garden.
The Problem
Matibi is located in a semi-arid region where clean and reliable water is often limited. Without a permanent water supply, the hub cannot fully support its training programs, maintain proper sanitation, or expand agricultural activities such as the organic garden.
What Will Be Installed
- •Borehole drilling to 110 metres (Class 10 pipe for maximum strength)
- •2HP submersible DC pump with capacity of 4,000 litres/hour
- •4 × 380-watt solar panels and controller system
- •Geological survey, ZINWA permit, and Council approval
Budget Breakdown
- •Borehole drilling (110 m): $3,300
- •Pump and solar system installation: $2,700
- •Geological survey: $250
- •Council approval: $100
- •ZINWA permit: $70
Total: USD $6,420
