PSS Camp at Masiye: Relax, Connect, Reflect

Matibi Nook Hub recently took a pause from its ongoing projects and embarked on a meaningful trip to Masiye Camp in Matopo, located approximately 340 km from Mwenezi. The journey brought great joy and excitement among the learners, as they were fully engaged in experiential learning activities and reflective debriefing sessions.

At first, some of the sessions seemed unclear to the learners, but as time went on, they began to make sense and revealed valuable life lessons. The theme of the PSS Camp, "Relax, Connect, Reflect," truly came to life throughout the experience.

Meeting Expectations Through Support and Care

From the perspective of the PSS Officer, all expectations were met. Learners received the support they needed, and issues that arose were quickly identified and addressed with immediate care and guidance.

Adventure Activities: Building Confidence and Resilience

The camp also included high-rope activities such as the zipline and canoeing, which helped refresh their minds, build confidence, and promote emotional well-being. These activities not only brought excitement but also strengthened teamwork, resilience, and personal growth.

  • •Zipline adventures — overcoming fear and building courage
  • •Canoeing — teamwork and coordination on the water
  • •Team-building exercises — strengthening bonds and trust
  • •Reflective debriefing sessions — drawing life lessons from every experience

Empowered, Supported, and Inspired

Overall, the trip was a success, leaving learners feeling empowered, supported, and inspired. The PSS Camp demonstrated that stepping outside the familiar environment of the Nook can open new doors of understanding, healing, and personal development.

The Masiye Camp experience reinforced the importance of psychosocial support in youth development. By combining adventure, reflection, and community, the camp gave Matibi Nook learners tools for emotional resilience that will serve them long after returning home.
