“I Never Stopped Dreaming Big” Believe Moyo’s Journey from Challenges to Possibility

At 17, Believe Moyo knows that where you start does not have to determine where you end up. Growing up in Gwereva Village and facing the challenge of not completing school, Believe could have allowed his circumstances to limit his dreams. Instead, he chose a different path one built on learning, hard work, determination, and hope.

“I never stopped dreaming big,” Believe says.

Today, as a learner at MATIB NOOK HUB, Believe is turning those dreams into practical skills and new possibilities for his future. From building and metal fabrication to teamwork, emotional regulation, and stress management, he is discovering that preparing for the future is about more than learning a trade. It is also about understanding yourself, working with others, managing challenges, and having the confidence to believe in your abilities.

Believe’s Story

My name is Believe Moyo. I am 17 years old and come from Gwereva Village. I have always wanted to learn practical skills that could help me build a better future for myself and support my family. The journey has not always been easy. One of the challenges I faced was not completing school. After leaving school, I stayed at home and wanted to continue learning, but I did not have many opportunities to gain practical skills that could help me earn a living. Despite the challenges I faced, I never stopped dreaming big. I believed that my circumstances did not have to determine my future. I wanted to keep learning, develop myself, and find a path towards achieving my goals.

That is why I decided to join The Nook. I wanted to learn practical skills that could prepare me for employment or help me start my own business. I was also attracted to the way The Nook combines practical training with personal development and teamwork. So far my experience at The Nook has been about much more than learning technical skills. I am proud to say I was very honored to attend the PSS camp, and I took part in many different activities, including team-building activities and personal development sessions. These experiences helped me learn more about myself and understand how I relate to and work with others. The sessions on emotional regulation and stress management had a particularly strong impact on me. They taught me the importance of understanding my emotions, managing pressure, and finding healthy ways to deal with challenges. I believe these are important skills for young people of my generation because we face many different pressures and challenges as we grow and prepare for our futures. The camp also helped me understand the importance of working with others. Through team-building activities, I learned that communication, cooperation, and supporting one another can help us achieve more together.

In the current training cycle, I am working on a project to build an outdoor working kitchen. Through this project, I am gaining hands-on experience in both building and metal fabrication. The project has given me an opportunity to put my skills into practice from working with different materials and constructing parts of the kitchen to learning how metal fabrication can be used to create strong and useful structures. Working on the outdoor kitchen has taught me the importance of patience, accuracy, teamwork, and problem-solving. Seeing the project take shape has been rewarding because I can see how the skills I am learning can be used to create something practical and valuable.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned at The Nook is that success comes through hard work and determination. I have gained practical skills, but I have also developed confidence, problem-solving abilities, and a better understanding of myself. The Nook has helped me become more responsible, confident, and focused on my goals. I now believe more in my abilities and feel better prepared to take on new challenges. Looking ahead, my dream is to build a successful career using the skills I am learning and eventually start my own business. I hope to use my skills in building and metal fabrication to create opportunities for myself and support my family.

To anyone thinking about joining The Nook, I would encourage them to take the opportunity. It is a place where you can learn practical skills, grow in confidence, understand yourself better, and prepare for your future. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of The Nook. It has given me hope for the future and motivated me to continue learning, improving myself, and dreaming big. My journey may have had challenges, but I never stopped believing that I could build a better future.
